Youth Exploring Science

Scientific Art

The third Youth Exploring Science project, YES! paired a 9th grade biology teacher and a Ringling computer animation student-artist. In Human Layers, a study of the human cell, Phoenix Academy students learned the separate parts of a cell by illustrating them on transparent layers and then combining the pages. By drawing layers that build upon each other, the students learn how the human body isn’t just separate parts but separate parts working together.
